500 Student Visa

The Student visa (subclass 500) replaced all previous student visa subclasses (570–576) and is the current visa for international students studying in Australia. It covers all course types including ELICOS, vocational education, higher education, postgraduate research, and schools. This visa lets you:

590 Student Guardian Visa

The Student Guardian visa (subclass 590) is a temporary visa for a parent or suitable guardian who needs to come to Australia to provide welfare support for a student visa holder who is:

This visa lets you stay in Australia for the same duration as the student you are supporting. You may not work on this visa, but you may study ELICOS for up to 3 months.

485 Temporary Graduate Visa

The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) allows international students who have recently graduated from an Australian CRICOS-registered institution to live, work, and study in Australia temporarily. You must be aged 35 or under when you apply (exceptions apply) and must have held a Student visa in the last 6 months. There are three streams:

Hong Kong and British National Overseas (BNO) passport holders may be eligible for a 5-year stay across most streams. Eligible TGV holders may also be able to apply for a Skills in Demand (subclass 482) visa while still in Australia.
